This post is brought to you by our partners at Future for Football.

Future For Football is an initiative by the National Football Foundation to promote and celebrate the game at all levels.

The Military Mom Collective had the exciting opportunity to talk with Ashley Martin Cockrell. On August 30th, 2001 Ashley became the first female to score in a NCAA Division 1 American Football game at Jacksonville State University.

As a mom now on the sidelines watching her children play, she says: “I don’t care if you are the fastest or the best, I care that they are respectful to their teammates and good people.”
