Super Easy, Party Favorite Meatballs

0

These meatballs and sauce are a party favorite. They are a staple at every family gathering. My mom has been making them for years. I’ve started taking them when I’m asked to bring an appetizer or snack. They are super easy and I always leave with an empty crockpot!

Ingredients:

For Meatballs:
1 cup plain bread crumbs
1 cup milk
1/2 tst salt
1/2 tsp pepper
2 medium onions
2 1/4 lbs hamburger (90% lean or less for better flavor )

For Sauce:
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 tbsp white vinegar
1/2 cup red wine
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup sugar

Instructions:

To make meatballs:
Dice onions.
Mix all meatball ingredients together.
Form into cocktail sized meatballs, arrange on baking sheet
Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes, turn meatballs at 8 minutes

To make the sauce:
Pour wine and ketchup into saucepan.
Heat over medium/low heat until ketchup starts to dissolve.
Slowly stir in sugar.
Continue stirring until sugar is melted.
Add Worcestershire sauce and vinegar

Add meatballs and sauce to crockpot (keep warm or lowest setting)

Notes: If you don’t have time to make homemade meatballs, grab a bag of frozen cocktail meatballs at your local grocery store. Make the sauce on the stove top. Then, combine the frozen meatballs in the crockpot with the sauce. Set the crock pot on high for an hour to thaw the meatballs. Be careful- the sauce will burn if left on high for too long!

Enjoy!!
